35th Annual Waterman’s Gala Unites Surf Industry to Turn a 'Moment Into a Movement' for Ocean Conservation
The 35th Annual Waterman's Gala was a tremendous success, marking yet another milestone in the ongoing efforts to unite the surf industry in the fight for ocean preservation. Since its founding in 1989, the Surf Industry Members Association (SIMA) has been dedicated to fostering the growth and unity of surf companies and the broader surfing community.

The legacy of leaders like Dick Baker, who joined SIMA's Board of Directors in 1999 and became president in 2000, and Paul Naude, who took on the role of vice president in 2000 and later president of the SIMA Environmental Fund, was evident in the evening's success. Thanks to the generosity of our attendees and supporters, the SIMA Environmental Fund has now raised more than $10 million through the Waterman’s Gala, SIMA Industry Luau and the #SurfCleanOceans campaign. These funds will continue to support organizations that work tirelessly to protect our oceans, beaches, and waves. As our oceans face increasing threats, this collective effort is more important than ever.
